Last week Casey Smith of Wiser Wealth submitted Wiser Blogs to www.financeanswers.com, a finance site geared for indivdiuals where they can ask questions and review blogs.  Within just a few days the most read blog was Casey’s article on the Cruel World of Financial Advice. This same artice was also number one at Financial Advice Network. Casey will answer questions and post blogs on financeanswers.com that also appear here at wiserinvestor.com.

Casey Smith to Conduct ASA Pilot and Flight Attendent 401k Workshop

Casey will be conducting an ASA pilot and and flight attendant 401k workshop January 6th and 9th at the Ramada Airport Conference Center. Seating is limited to 100 participants each day. The workshop will cover how to build a diversified portfolio using the options within the ASA 401k plan. Time will also be spent discussing the benefits of using index funds over mutual funds. Wiser Women Have Lunch at Berry College

The Wiser Women, had lunch Thursday the 5th at Berry College in Rome, GA. Wiser Women is a group of widow ladies that are all clients of Wiser Wealth Management. The group and their friends have lunch once a quarter with the Wiser staff. In the past this event has been at the Swan Coach House in Atlanta. This quarter Wiser had Gabriel’s Desserts of Marietta cater a lunch at the Berry College Alumni Center. The Alumni Center is in the famous Ford Buildings at Berry. Representatives of the college also joined the group for lunch and talked about the history of berry as well as new programs being launched.  After lunch, the group toured the home of Martha Berry and visited the Berry Museum at Oak Hill. Everyone had a great time and remarked that it was an experience that they would always remember.

Casey Smith and Kyle Waller were asked a few months ago to write a 2000 word cover article for Your Trading Edge Magazine about ETFs. They took on the task. The Nov/Dec issue of YTE Magazine is now out featuring their article on ETFs. While Wiser Wealth takes a more passive approach to investing, ETFs can be used in various strategies.

Casey Smith quoted in Berry Magazine

Casey was quoted in the latest Berry Magazine published by Berry College for friends and Alumni of the school. Casey’s quote  came from a phone interview about gifting assets to the school through wills and trusts. The article did not touch on Casey’s main point, which is that any advice on gifting should be sought from a professional acting in a fiduciary capacity. A non-fiduciary or salesperson such as a banker or broker may only be looking to make a sale of an annuity or life insurance policy. This would not be unbiased advice. You can view the article HERE.

Casey Smith to visit the Berry Investment Group (BIG)

Casey will be speaking to the Berry Investment Group (BIG) Thursday November 5th. BIG is a student run investment group at Berry College in Rome, GA. The now famous club manages a real portfolio and uses it’s earnings to benefit the school. Casey was the clubs second president and served two terms during his Junior and Senior year at Berry. His group funded for CNBC to be on the cable tv channels across campus and helped fund the College Chapel’s air conditioner. Since that time the group has paid for wifi coverage across campus and various other projects.

Wiser Wealth Helped Raise $8K for Alzheimer’s Association

Through our Sponsorship of the Annual Kitchen Family Golf Tournament Wiser Wealth helped raise $8,000 for the Alzheimer’s Association. The event took place at Bentwater Golf Club in Acworth, GA on October 1. There were 13 teams that participated in a 4 person best ball tournament. Wiser Wealth sponsored the event and had two teams participate in the tournament.
